BBO crystal electro-optical switch and driver Instructions

1. BBO crystal electro-optical switch wiring instructions

As shown above, the rear panel of the driver provides two sets of interfaces:

Ⅰ. AC220V: 220V power interface, just connect to the three-phase power line

Ⅱ. Blue (HV1), red (HV2), black and three-color interfaces, among which the blue and red interfaces are high-voltage output interfaces.

  • Red (HV2): Positive high voltage output terminal
  • Blue (HV1): Negative high voltage output terminal
  • Black: GND, ground test terminal, not used. For testing use only, red + black: test positive high voltage output; blue + black: test negative high voltage output.

Note:

  • You cannot directly measure the high voltage output with ordinary probes! Ordinary probes can use space coupling to test high-voltage pulse signals. The waveform is consistent with the direct measurement waveform of high-voltage probes. Coupling measurement is recommended.
  • Conventional high voltage probes can test: red+black, blue+black. Can’t test red + blue directly!
  • Only use the differential high voltage probe to test the red + blue terminal
  • When testing the high-voltage output, no load is allowed, and the high-voltage output must be connected to the load (electro-optical switch).

As shown in the figure above, there are two electrodes on the BBO electro-optical switch, which are connected to the red and blue interfaces of the driver, regardless of positive or negative, and the connection can be protected by heat shrink tubing (recommended).

2. Start-up operation instructions

The introduction of the front panel of the driver is as follows:

  • The red button is the power switch of the driver. When turned on, the “power” light will light up, indicating that the driver is in standby.
  • “HV” status light, when the light is on, it means that the drive outputs high voltage, and when the light is off, it means the five high-voltage output
  • “SYNC OUT” is the synchronous signal output interface, which outputs the same signal as the driving working state
  • “SYNC IN” is the external signal input terminal, which can accept external signal control work.

Driver Job Description
Note: After turning on the power key, please pay attention to the three parameter settings

  • Voltage setting: It is recommended that the voltage should not exceed 7000V, and the quarter-wave operating voltage of the electro-optical switching device provided is 6800V. In fact, 6500V has been close to the working state of quarter wave. When the working voltage is set to meet the requirements of the working state, it is better to take a smaller value.
  • Frequency setting: whether it is the required working frequency
  • Pulse width setting: whether it is the required high voltage duration

After confirming the setting of working parameters, first select the state of internal and external signal triggering, when it displays “Working at external time”, if there is external signal input, it is the external signal triggering control drive. At this time, the frequency and pulse width settings of the drive are invalid; when it displays “internal time work”, it is controlled by the internal signal of the drive, and the parameters of the internal signal are controlled by the frequency and pulse width settings.

After confirming the working parameter settings, after the internal and external signals are controlled, click “High Voltage Off” to switch to “High Voltage Start”, at this time the “HV” status light is on, high voltage is output, and the drive works.
